The result, played before a meager crowd of 463, dropped seventh-place NYRBII (13 points) to 3-11-4, while the fourth-place Battery (27) improved to 8-7-3 in the Atlantic Division.
Charleston got the scoring started in the second minute, as a long pass from Geobel Perez was headed in by DZ Harmon.
Three minutes later, the hosts equalized. Austin Brummett found Mathias Jørgensen, who fired a hard shot into the goal for his first goal of the year.
The Battery took the lead back in the 10th minute, as AJ Paterson linked up with Josh Penn.
The guests doubled their advantage in the 44th minute. Frank Nodarse sent a cross that was headed down to Perez. The ball landed at the foot of Claudio Repetto. who scored his team-leading sixth goal.
New York pulled within one goal in stoppage time. Daniel Edelman sent a pass in to Jake LaCava, who fed Serge Ngoma. Ngoma slipped a low shot past the goalkeeper for his first professional goal.
Luther Archimede made his professional debut, entering in the 66th minute. Archimede was drafted in the 2021 Superdraft by the Red Bulls in the first round.
Goalkeeper Luca Lewis made a season-high six saves.
