QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John’s University men scored all four goals during the second half of a 4-0 preseason victory over Long Island University at Belson Stadium Monday night.

Neither side mustered up much offense during the opening 45 minutes. St. John’s controlled possession for a majority of the first half, but held only a 2-0 advantage in shots.

In the second half, St. John’s increased its intensity in the attacking third.

Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau opened the scoring in the 51st minute, converting on a bicycle kick in front of the net following a corner kick. Anthony Herbert and Ryan Dougherty picked up assists.

Micaah Garnette pushed the Red Storm lead to 2-0 16 minutes later, finding the back of the net from the right side following a skillful pass down the flank from Sanoussi Sangary.

In the 78th minute, Wesley Leggett controlled a header from Luke Hansen and fired home an off-balance strike from the left of the cage.

Shawn Coles drew a penalty kick in the 85th minute and converted the opportunity, making it a 4-0 game.

Coached by Dr. Dave Masur, the Johnnies outshhot LIU, 15-1.

Goalkeepers Luka Gavran and Emmanuel Smalios combined for the clean sheet.

St. John’s will wrap the preseason portion of its schedule as it travels to Philadelphia to play Temple University Friday night
