It has been quite a memorable week for Joe Scally.

The Lake Grove, N.Y. native made his debut for Borussia Moenchengladbach in 1-0 win over Kaiserslautern in the DFB Pokal Cup last week.

On Friday night, he made his Bundesliga debut in a 1-1 tie with defending champion Bayern Munich in the league opener for month teams.

Scally, 18, usually plays at right back, but he competed on the left flank of defense.

He won 73 percent of his duels, completed 85 percentof his passes, and covered almost 7.5 miles. Scally completed the game without committing a foul, while he was fouled twice.

“I have to pay Joe Scally a huge compliment,” head coach Adi Hütter said. “He made his Bundesliga debut against Bayern Munich today, aged 18, right-footed on the left side against top players, and he rewarded me with an absolute class game.”

Borussia next plays at Bayer Leverkusen Aug. 21.
