NEW YORK – Within the framework of the Balón de Oro awards which took place Saturday evening, the names of 25 players who will represent the LIGA MX All-Star Team were announced Monday.

The Mexican-based players from across the league will face the best of Major League Soccer in the 2021 MLS All-Star Game Aug. 25 at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT).

The first 14 selections were the winners and nominees for the Balón de Oro awards within the categories of best goalkeeper, fullback, defender, defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, rookie and forward.

Cruz Azul’s Juan Reynoso, upon being chosen as the best head coach of the season, also selected 11 players to complement the squad.

The 26th player will be selected by LIGA MX executive president Mikel Arriola through a process that will be announced soon.
