MIAMI, Fla. – The United States will play Haiti in its opening match of the Concacaf Gold Cup.
The Caribbean side booked a spot in the tournament with a 4-1 win over Bermuda at DRV PNK Stadium Tuesday night.
Frantzdy Pierrot recorded an 11th-minute hat-trick as the Haitians won the second round match of the Prelims. Duckens Nazon added a late penalty kick.
Haiti will meet the USA in Kansas City, Kansas Suunday and also will meet Canada and Martinique in Group B.
Pierrot has tallied five goals against Bermuda in two Gold Cup matches, after having scored both goals in the Haitian’s 2-1 win in the 2019 group stage.
Pierrot started his magical streak in the 23rd minute. After receiving a pass from Nazon, Pierrot rounded goalkeeper Dale Eve and slotted the ball into net for a 1-0 lead.
Only five minutes later, Pierrot struck against with a right-footed finish off a long ball.
He finished a virtuoso performance in the 34th minute.
Nahki Wells sliced the lead to 3-1 in the 80th minute as he beat keeper Brian Sylvestre.
Nazon converted a penalty kick in the 87th minute for the 4-1 margin.
