In a game that had two rain delays spanning an hour, Red Bulls II and Miami FC battled to a 1-1 draw in a USL Championship at MSU Soccer Park in Montclair, N.J. Friday night.
NYRB (2-6-3) wasted little time as Jake Lacava broke through in the seventh minute. Lacava was sprung on a long pass from Juan Castillo and beat goalkeeper Connor Sparrow with low shot for his third goal of the season. It was Lacava’s first score since scoring against Charleston May 7.
Miami FC (4-5-2) answered back in the 24th minute, as Othello Bah scored from close range. NYRBII goalkeeper AJ Marcucci got a finger-tip on the shot, but was unable to prevent the goal.
JC Cortez made his first professional start after making his debut against the Charlotte Independence June 16.
Kyle Zajec made his first appearance in nearly a year since suffering a left foot fracture against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds July 26, 2020.
Samuel Williams made his professional debut, replacing Castillo in the 90th minute.
