FrontRowSoccer.com editor Michael Lewis will talk about the U.S. women’s national team and the Tokyo Olympic soccer tournament at the Sachem Public Library in Holbrook, N.Y. Tuesday, July 13 at 7 p.m.
Lewis will discuss this year’s team and its chances of earning a fifth Olympic gold medal, some of the USA’s challengers for the championship and a history of the team.
The USWNT is the most successful women’s team in the history of the Summer Games, having won four gold medals and a silver out of six tournaments. The Americans were eliminated in the quarterfinals at the 2016 Rio Games, failing to reach the semifinals of a FIFA tournament for the first time.
Lewis is the only writer to have covered every American appearance in the gold medal match (1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012).
The women’s tournament kicks off July 21.
