New York City FC announced that defenders Alex Callens and Gudmundur Thórarinsson have been called into their respective teams for international matches this month.
Callens, 29, was selected as part of Ricardo Gareca’s Peru team for World Cup qualifiers against Colombia (June 3) and Ecuador (June 8). Callens was with Peru in November when it faced Argentina and Chile, but he did not play.
Thórarinsson will link up with Iceland for friendly matches against the Faroe Islands (June 4) and Poland (June 8).
This is Thórarinsson’s first involvement with the national team since two friendlies in January 2019.
