With Aquinas Institute stadium at maximum capacity due to COVID-19 pandemic protocols, Rochester Lancers fans who don’t have tickets for Sunday’s season-opening doubleheader still can watch the games – via streaming.

They can be seen at www.RLancers.com.

The Lady Lancers will kick off their United Women’s Soccer season against FC Buffalo at Charles A. Schiano Sr. Field at 2 p.m., followed by the Lancers facing Cleveland SC in their National Premier Soccer League opener at 5 p.m.

The game streams are hosted by Joe Giuliano and Andrew Battisti.

A quick history of the Lancers

1967: The team was formed by members of the Italian American Sport Club and joined the American Soccer league.

1970: The Lancers joined and saved the North American Soccer League and won the championship that season.

1980: The team folded after this season.

1999: Salvatore “SoccerSam” Fantauzzo bought the name and logo for his soccer collection.

2011: Fantauzzo brought indoor pro soccer back to Rochester.

2017: Fantauzzo brought Lancers outdoor soccer back, and created the Lady Lancers.

2021: Lancers operate two outdoor teams (UWS/NPSL) and an indoor team (Major Arena Soccer League). THREE TEAMS – ONE CITY.
