Former Cosmos center back Armando Guarnera has signed to play with New Amsterdam FC this National Independent Soccer Association season.

The 6-2, 175-lb. Guarnera had played the last two seasons with the Cosmos, who are on hiatus for the 2021 NISA season.

“I was very happy to sign with New Amsterdam,” he said. “I chose too sign because I believe its the best opportunity for me to grow as a player.

The 23-year-old Guarnera’s goals for the season were simple and to the point.

“To get as many minutes as possible and fight for a championship,” he said.

Guarnera also can play right back and midfielder.

The one-time Tottenville High School standout added that it was “disappointing to not see the NY Cosmos playing this year; a club with such history and support. As for returning only time will tell.”
