QUEENS, N.Y. – Three St. John’s University women’s players were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region teams, it was announced Tuesday.

Jessica Garziano, who led the Red Storm in scoring during the spring season, and Zsani Kajan earned first team honors, while Ava Collins found a spot on the second team.

In 12 appearances, Garziano, a Melville, N.Y., native, tallied seven goals and two assists for a team-high 16 points. The sophomore ranked third in the conference in scoring.

Garziano’s best offensive output came against Sacred Heart University Feb. 25, as she recorded the first collegiate hat-trick. She became the second active player on the Red Storm squad to score three times in a game.

Kajan, a product of Budapest, Hungary, netted four, including the game-winning score against Seton Hall University March 7. She led the Red Storm offensively in the Big East, scoring a team-high three goals to tie for fourth in the conference and added two assists.

Collins earned minutes in all 12 matches during her rookie season. The Auckland, New Zealand native led St. John’s with five assists tie for third overall in the conference. Collins also found the back of the net twice for nine points. The 5-10 midfielder burst onto the scene in her first collegiate appearance, scoring once and assisting twice against the University at Albany. She picked up her second goal while also registering an assist in the Johnnies’ draw with Big East foe Villanova University March 21.

The trio also was recognized by the Big East. Garziano earned a spot on the first team, while Kajan was named to the second team and Collins tabbed a spot on the all-rookie team.
