GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – Costa Rica captured its third consecutive Concacaf Futsal Championship after defeating the United States, 3-2, in the final at the Domo Polideportivo de la CDAG Sunday night.
It is the fourth overall CFC title for the Ticos, who also won in 2000, 2012 and 2016.
Both teams already had qualified for the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania late this year.
Costa Rica needed to dig itself out of an early deficit after Lucho Gonzalez gave the U.S. a 1-0 lead.
Goals from Daniel Gomez and Juan Cordero boosted Costa Rica back into the lead as the USA responded with an equalizer through Zach Reget.
Gomez struck for his second score before halftime, and that goal held as the game-winner.
