CHICAGO – One individual in the National Women’s Soccer League has tested positive for COVID-19, the league announced Saturday.

Since April 3 a total of 849 tests were performed for individuals associated with NWSL teams.

It was not immediately known whether a player had tested positive.

All necessary contact tracing is being conducted. The individual who received a positive result, as well as any close contacts, are self-quarantining and following the guidance provided by their respective medical staffs and the league’s medical protocols.

The NWSL said that it will continue to provide weekly COVID-19 testing updates.
