HARRISON, N.J. — NJ/NY Gotham FC has signed midfielders Taylor Aylmer and Claire Winter to National Team Replacement Player contracts prior to the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup, the National Women’s Soccer League club announced Friday.
Both players have been training with the team during the preseason and will join the squad as Evelyne Viens (Canada), Estelle Johnson (Cameroon), Carli Lloyd (U.S.), and Margaret “Midge” Purce (U.S.) are away on international duty.
Aylmer is a 2020 graduate of nearby Rutgers University. As team captain during her senior campaign, she started all 21 games and led the team with nine assists while earning All-Big Ten third team and All-Region second team honors.
A native of California, Winter played at UCLA and was a member of the team that won the 2013 NCAA Division I crown. As a senior, she co-captained the team and logged 918 minutes with 11 starts. After graduating in 2017, Winter played professionally with Puerto Rico Sol FC and RCD Espanyol de Barcelona.
