ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – New York City FC scored early, middle and late in the game its 3-0 preseason victory over the defending MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew SC Wednesday night.

Jesus Medina tallied in the third minute, Maxi Moralez in the 65th minute and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi in the 86th minute.

Medina rilfed in a left-wing cross by Andres Jasson to lift City into a 1-0 lead.

NYCFC scored a second goal when Tony Rocha’s cross deflected to the feet of Moralez, who slotted it home.

City’s third goal came after some fine build-up play involving youngster Cooper Flax.

The teenager linked up with Gedion Zelalem, who in turn played it to Moralez. The veteran found Tajouri-Shradi, who scored.

NYCFC plays Nashville SC Saturday.
