HARRISON, N.J. – Red Bulls II have signed Academy product Daniel Edelman to a USL Championship contract pending federation and league approval, the club announced Wednesday.

Edelman, 17, joined Red Bulls Academy in January 2020. He made his professional debut for NYRB II July 17, 2020 against Hartford Athletic.

“We are really excited to add Daniel to our roster,” NYRB II head coach John Wolyniec said in a statement. “We got to see a glimpse of what he can do at the USL Championship level last year, and now I think he has worked really hard knowing that he can contribute a lot to our team.”

The Warren, N.J. native appeared in five matches for NYRB II last season. He recorded his first professional goal against Philadelphia Union II July 22, 2020.

Edelman also played for Players Development Academy, where he made 105 appearances and scored six goals.

“I am excited to sign my first professional contract, as this starts the next chapter in my soccer journey,” he said. “It is truly a privilege to put on this uniform and I’ll continue to challenge myself to improve every day while competing at the highest level.”

He also has featured for the U.S. Under-16 team.
