NEWARK, N.J. – Rene White scored twice to lead the NJIT men to a 4-2 America East victory over Binghamton University at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium Tuesday.

NJIT snapped a three-game losing streak, moving to 2-3-1, 2-2-0 while Binghamton, which entered the match on a two-game winning streak, fell to 2-2-0, 2-2-0.

The four goals was a season best mark for the Highlanders, surpassing the three-goal output against Seton Hall University to open the season Feb. 17.

White, the NCAA active career goals leader who return to the pitch for the first time since the Seton Hall game, added two more to raise his total to 37 career goals. Senior Regsan Watkins added a goal and assist.

Tomas Jorge opened the scoring for the Highlanders, netting his second goal this season. Graduate student Zach Halma registered his first assist of the season.

NJIT sophomore goalkeeper Samuel Reisgys earned the win, stopping two shots.

Binghamton got on the board in the 10th minute off a free kick by conference goal leader Noah Lucesher from just outside the top right corner of the box. Lucesher’s shot was blasted past a diving NJIT keeper into the top right corner.

NJIT scored the equalizer in the 23rd minute on a goal by Jorge off a rebound on a shot by Watkins.

A minute later, NJIT grabbed a 2-1 lead on a goal by White, assisted by Zach Halma.

Watkins scored his third goal of the season, creating his own opportunity and bending his shot to the near post for a 3-1 lead.

With less than 30 seconds left in the first half, a foul was called on NJIT inside the box and Bearcats Sean Molly put away his first goal of the season on the ensuing penalty kick, shooting into the top left corner.

With a minute remaining, White dribbled through three defenders, netting his second goal on a left-footed shot in the bottom right corner.

NJIT will host Drexel University in a non-conference match on Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium Saturday at 2 p.m.
