VILLANOVA, Pa. – Ava Collins scored in the 83rd minute to lift the St. John’s University women into a 2-2 Big East draw with Villanova University at Higgins Soccer Complex Sunday night.

Zsani Kajan also scored the goals for St. John’s (5-2-1, 2-2-1). Kajan’s goal marked her third of the year and the 27th of her Red Storm career. Collins, the rookie from Auckland, New Zealand, found the back of the net for the second time this season. The duo of Kajan and Collins both assisted on each other’s goals, to finish with game-high three points each on the afternoon.

Villanova jumped ahead in the 22nd minute as Reagan Smith sent one to the back of the cage.

Kajan broke through in the 53rd to knot the game at 1-1. Collins played a long pass just outside the box for Kajan, who buried it home into an open net.

Just over 10 minutes later, the Wildcats struck again as Makayla Stadler scored in the 64th minute off a feed from Chloe O’Neill, giving Villanova a 2-1 advantage.

With seven minutes remaining in regulation, the Johnnies knotted the game at 2-2 with a goal from Collins. Kajan began the sequence sending a pass through traffic intended for Collins. The freshman forward corralled the pass before sending a right-footed blast into the net.
