Danny Szetela isn’t ready to hang up his cleats, at least not yet.

The former Cosmos captain and midfielder had been mulling retirement, but he has signed with Morris Elite Soccer Club of USL League Two. His signing is pending league and federation approval.

A native of Clifton, N.J., the 33-year-old Szetela played the last eight seasons with the Cosmos in the North American Soccer League, National Premier Soccer League and National Independent Soccer Association.

“It is great to sign another experienced player like Danny,” USL sporting director and head coach Javier Velasco said in a statement. “He brings leadership and a competitive attitude which we will need in our first season. I look forward to seeing Danny competing and leading at training and games.”

Szetela was a member of the Cosmos since their reboot in 2013, playing for three NASL championship teams (2013, 2015 and 2016) and reaching the final a fourth time.

The Cosmos are not participating in the NISA during the spring season. It was not known what their future plans were.
