HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Hofstra University women continued to roll during their non-conference slate to begin the season, taking down the University at Albany by a 4-0 margin Wednesday.

Lucy Shepherd and Sabrina Bryan tallied four points apiece on the day. Shepherd led the Pride with two goals, while Bryan scored once and assisted on two goals. Miri Taylor scored as well as Hofstra outshot the Great Danes, 16-2.

Goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich stopped both shots she faced to earn the win and her first shutout of the season and fourth of her career.

After a scoreless half hour, Shepherd found the back of the net for the first time during the 32nd minute. Lucy Porter found her at the top of the penalty area and Shepherd cut to her left foot and fired a low shot inside the far post. Five minutes later Bryan curled a ball into the box where Porter headed a shot towards goal. Shepherd buried the rebound to double the Hofstra advantage heading into halftime.

Porter moved into fourth all-time in career points, surpassing Christa Eidenweil.

The Pride struck quickly during the second half as Bryan expanded the lead with a highlight-reel goal during the 54th minute. The senior took a pass from Jordan Littleboy on the right wing. She took two dribbles towards the top of the penalty area before launching a rocket from more than 20 yards that dipped just under the crossbar.

Only 75 seconds later, Bryan floated a ball into the box towards the left post and Taylor headed a shot back across the goal mouth for her second goal of the season. Bryan moved into sixth all-time in career points, surpassing Jill Mulholland. She also jumped into third all-time with 24 career assists.
