FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas continues to lead Major League Soccer clubs in sending its players to Europe.
The MLS team and FC Bayern Munich Friday announced the loan of defender Justin Che to FC Bayern Munich II following his two-week training experience with FC Bayern Munich in January as part of the clubs’ Elite Player Development partnership.
FC Dallas signed Che, 17, as its MLS-leading 30th Homegrown in club history Oct. 2, 2020.
He made his professional debut July 25, 2020 with North Texas Soccer Club, FC Dallas’ USL League One affiliate, in the 2-1 season-opening win against Forward Madison FC. He started all 16 matches for North Texas SC last year and recorded one assist.
Che was named to the 2020 USL League One All-League first team and was nominated for the league’s young player of the Year award following the season.
He joined the FC Dallas Academy in 2009 and scored 18 goals in 84 U.S. Soccer Development Academy appearances since 2016. Che was the seventh youngest player to sign with FC Dallas at 16 years and 319 days old, behind Bryan Reynolds, Dante Sealy, Jesús Ferreira, Ricardo Pepi, Alejandro Zendejas and Paxton Pomykal.
Che is the second FC Dallas Homegrown to join FC Bayern on loan since the Elite Player Development partnership was formed three years ago. Former FC Dallas Homegrown Chris Richards joined FC Bayern on loan in July 2018 before signing with the club in January 2019. He made his first team Bundesliga debut in June 2020 and is currently on loan to Hoffenheim.
The best known FC Dallas product is Weston McKennie, who plays for Juventus (Italy).
On Feb. 1, the club transferred defender Bryan Reynolds to AS Roma in Italy’s Serie A.
Another FC Dallas product, defender Reggie Cannon, plays for Boavista (Portugal).
