Coaches can take the C Coaching Course on Long Island and in the Capital District this year.

The course is given by Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association.

Applicants must be at least 18-years-old, be a coach and have held a National “D” License for a minimum of one year or meet the waiver guidelines: https://learning.ussoccer.com/coach/courses/available/4/course-info

This C course and first-class curriculum is designed for coaches working with players ages 14 and up. The course encompasses the various tasks of the coach, including training sessions, coaching games, leading players, leading the teams and managing a performance environment plus vital theory sessions on periodization and principles of play with field sessions. There is an instruction/development period and an assessment period.

“This is a great course that is a vital stepping stone for those that wish to move onto the B and A courses,” ENYYSA director of coaching Tim Bradbury said. “The C is the foundation of all high-level licenses and is full of vital teaching strategies and game concepts.“

As part of the course, applicants complete 16 weeks of virtual training that starts four weeks prior to Phase 1, continues in the 10 weeks between phases and ends two weeks after Phase 2. The virtual training should take applicants 1-2 hours per week.
