Many signs are pointing to Red Bulls center back Aaron Long heading to a European club on loan.

Reading has been mentioned, according to the Washington Post’s Steve Goff.

The latest possibility has English Premier League powerhouse Liverpool showing interest in Long, as reported by ESPN writer Jeff Carlisle, who cited multiple sources.

The Reds have injuries to their backline and need healthy defenders.

After Liverpool’s 3-1 win over hosts Tottenham, manager Jurgen Klopp said that he wants to add a new center back in this month’s transfer window.

“If you have a center-half available at a reasonable price, and one with the quality we need, then send me a message,” Klopp said on BT Sport. “We thought [about making signings] and we think the whole time but it’s about doing the right thing. We need to find the right player. It’s incredible what’s happening in the defensive line.”
