QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John’s University women’s soccer forward Zsani Kajan has been named to the 2020-21 Women’s MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, it was announced on Thursday afternoon.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year.
One of 54 women selected to the list, Kajan is the only player from the Big East to make the cut on the women’s side.
The Budapest, Hungary native becomes the second player in program history to be named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, joining the Red Storm’s all-time leading scorer Rachel Daly.
At the conclusion of the 2019 regular season, Kajan was named Big East offensive player of the year and was unanimously selected to the All-Big East first team. Kajan’s campaign was bolstered by her impressive scoring pace, as she led the way for the Johnnies with 11 goals in 18 games. Kajan’s 11 scores tied her season-high total, as she became one of just three players in program history to record double-digit scoring in multiple seasons.
Kajan also earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region first team, as well as the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America third team.
Heading into her senior season, Kajan ranks fifth on the all-time list in goals scored with 24, and is tied for eighth overall in points with 51.
Kajan and the Johnnies will kick off their 2021 spring season Sunday, Feb. 21, welcoming the University of Albany to Belson Stadium for a 2 p.m. matchup.
