McCall Zerboni is ready for a full season with Sky Blue FC.
HARRISON, N.J. – Sky Blue FC has signed midfielder McCall Zerboni to a new two-year contract, the National Women’s Soccer League season club announced Tuesday afternoon.
The team also has a third-year option on the contract.
“Despite the challenges and changes of the 2020 season that all of us in the NWSL had to bear through, I still really enjoyed this past year with my new club,” Zerboni said in a statement. “I am proud to be a Sky Blue player and am super motivated and hungry to continue to achieve more with this squad.”
Zerboni, 34, joined Sky Blue in January 2020. During the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, Zerboni played the full 90 in all five of her starts. The two-time NWSL champion completed over 78 percent of her passes and recorded an assist in the tournament to help Sky Blue earn a semifinal appearance.

The U.S. international suffered a torn meniscus during the Challenge Cup and missed the Fall Series while rehabbing.
“McCall had a big impact on the team last year and we are thrilled to extend her contract,” head coach Freya Coombe said in a statement. “She has a fiercely competitive nature and tremendous experience in the game in addition to her great leadership skills. These attributes combined with her technical ability and tactical knowledge made this extension a focus for us this offseason.”
Added general manager Alyse LaHue: “McCall has very quickly become a backbone for our club. She is an important element of our continued growth both for what she brings on the pitch and all the intangibles she provides to those around her. It was important for us to take this opportunity to re-up her contract and we are happy for her continued leadership.”
Sky Blue FC will begin its pre-season Feb. 1, with the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup set to kick off mid-April. The team is preparing for a 24-match season, beginning in mid-May.
