Uruguayan playmaking midfielder Santiago Rodriguez reportedly could be headed for New York City FC.
City is in the final stages of sewing up a deal for Rodriguez, according to Niko Moreno, a Seattle-based writer.
Rodriguez, who has been a member of five Uruguayan youth national teams, performs for Nacional in his his native country.
Last month, City Football Group, which owns NYCFC, signed Rodriguez. It was not known which of CFG’s clubs the 20-year-old midfielder would join.
He has scored 11 goals gor Nacional, including the second goal of its 6-2 loss to River Plate (Argentina) in the Copa Libertadores Thursday.
