After he was slowed down by testing positive for COVID-19 last month, Weston McKennie continued his comeback for Juventus Sunday, setting up the opening goal in a 4-1 triumph over Spezia in Italy Serie A action.

It was McKennie’s first assist for Juve.

McKennie ran onto Rodrigo Betancur’s feed outside the penalty area before finding himself in a 2 v 1 situation with Alvaro Morata against the goalkeeper. Noticing his teammate had a better chance to score, the U.S. men’s national team midfielder shuffled off a pass to Morata. He scored from point-blank range in the 14th minute.

Morata had three goals called back due to offside calls in Juve’s loss in UEFA Champions League action Wednesday.

Christiano Ronaldo, who also was forced to quarantine due to COVID-19, came off the bench in the second half to tally twice.
