U.S. goalkeeper Ethan Horvath conceded one unusual own goal, but he had the poise to comeback and backstop Club Brugge to a 2-1 Group F victory over Zenit Saint-Petersburg in St. Petersburg, Russia in UEFA Champions League action Tuesday.

Horvath got an opportunity make his first start of the season after regular Simon Mignolet tested positive for COVID-19

The own goal occurred when Dejan Lovern fired a shot from distance that bounded off the goal post before hitting Horvath’s back and entering the goal.

He finished with three saves, including one late in the match before Charles de Ketelaere tallied in stoppage time.

Horvath was one of five Americans to perform in the Champions League Tuesday, along with Christian Pulisic, Sergino Dest, Gio Reyna and Tyler Adams.

In other USMNT players:

* Pulisic played 93 minutes before being replaced in stoppage time in Chelsea’s home scoreless draw with Sevilla in Group E.

* Reyna came on as a sub and assisted on Erling Haaland’s goal, but it wasn’t enough for Borussia Dortmund’s 3-1 Group F defeat at Lazio.

* Left back Sergino Dest played the entire way for Barcelona in its 5-1 thrashing of visiting Ferencvaros. Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati recordeda a goal and an assist.

* Former Red Bulls midfielder Tyler Adams was a 58th-minute substitute in RB Leipzig’s 2-0 Group H win over visiting Istanbul Basaksehir.
