U.S. women’s national team players Tobin Heath and Christen Press enjoyed a winning debut for Manchester United Saturday as the Reds recorded a 1-0 win over Tottenham in the Women’s Super League in London.
In fact, Heath enjoyed an active game, creating the lone goal of the match in the 69th minute.
Heath sent a corner kick to Millie Turner to the far post. Turner then flicked a looping header from six yards into the bottom far right corner.

Both Americans had their moments.
In the 23rd minute, Press made a good into the box on the left flank, but the ball went out for a goal kick. Several minutes later, Press was the architect of an attack as she found Heath with a precise through ball. One-on-one with Rebecca Spencer, Heath’s shot from a difficult angle hit the goalkeeper and the ball went out for a corner kick.
On the half hour, Heath fired a shot but failed to hit the target.
Only a minute later, former Hofstra University standout Leah Galton whipped in a cross to the back post to Alessia Russo, who couldn’t get a shot away.
Press played the opening 55 minutes before she was replaced by Kristy Hanson.
USWNT forward Alex Morgan, who recently signed with Tottenham, did not suit up for the hosts.
