Luis Robles suffered “a fracture to his left arm” Saturday night.
The Inter Miami CF goalkeeper incurred the injury during a collision with New York City FC midfielder Gary Mackay-Steven in the former’s 3-2 MLS loss in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Mackay-Steven rammed into Robles two minutes into stoppage time after the keeper left the penalty area to clear the ball at Inter Miami Stadium. He was awarded a yellow card.
The club did give further details on how severe the injury was. It also did not say if or how long the former Red Bulls goalkeeper would be sidelined, only that Robles will be further evaluated by team doctor’s Baptist Health hospital in southern Florida over the next 48 hours.
It will be intriguing to see if MLS metes out further punishment to Mackay-Steven.
NYCFC will host D.C. United in its next game at Yankee Stadium Wednesday night. It will be City’s first match at the stadium this season, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
