TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced Friday that due to the combination of multiple covered persons in the Loudoun United FC organization testing positive for COVID-19 and the lack of rescheduling windows available in advance of the 2020 Championship playoffs, the club’s remaining three matches have been cancelled.
Those games were supposed to be against the Charleston Battery, Red Bulls II and North Carolina FC.
Loudoun United is 1-9-3 with six points and is in last place in Group F.
When a team cannot play its full 16-game schedule, the points per game model voted on by the USL Championship board of governors will be applied to the remaining matches unable to be played.
The league will continue to work with the Competition Strategy Committee on any situations that impact playoff qualification and is looking for the opportunity for NCFC to play a 15th and 16th game.
