Reaching the semifinals of the National Independent Soccer Association Fall Tournament is Chattanooga FC and Cal United Strikers to lose.

Both teams recorded 2-0 victories in their Group B opening matches at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, Mich. Tuesday night. They are tied for first with three points apiece, while the losers, the Cosmos and the Los Angeles Force, have none.

The top two teams in each group will advance to the Sept. 30 semifinals.

In the opening game of the doubleheader, Cal United blanked the Cosmos, while Chattanooga shut out the Force.

Chattanooga was paced by goals from Sean Hoffstatter and Darwin Lom.

Group B action resumes Friday when the Cosmos meet their Tennessee rivals at 5 p.m., before the Strikers and Force tussle at 8 p.m.

The final day of the group stage is Monday. That’s when Chattanooga meets the Strikers at 5 p.m. and the Cosmos face the Force at 8 p.m.
