HARRISON, N.J. – Red Bulls II signed goalkeeper Luca Lewis to a USL Championship contract, the club announced Tuesday.

The agreement is pending league and federation approval.

Lewis, 19, most recently played for Torino Primavera in Italy. The New York native made 14 appearances for the club last season, posting seven shutouts.

“We are very excited to add Luca to the group. He is joining us from a high-level environment, that experience combined with his youth and talent we believe sets him up to succeed with us,” NYRB II head coach John Wolyniec said in a statement.

Lewis started playing for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. in 2015. He made 35 appearances over two seasons. He performed for the Torino Under-17 squad as he made 13 appearances and recorded seven shutouts in 2018.

“He gives us some experience overseas while also being from the local community. We believe his strengths make him very suited to our style of play and we are very excited to have him with us,” Wolyniec said.
