EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — The Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association Fields at Progin Park have been selected as the primary site for an inaugural co-branded Memorial Day showcase, hosted by US Youth Soccer and EDP Soccer.

The showcase will take place May 29-31, 2021, EDP Soccer announcement Tuesday.

“Progin Park — with its 16 quality fields, central New England location, and experienced Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association staff — provides a great setting for a college showcase,” EDP soccer executive director of competitions and facilities Don Rawson said in a statement. “We expect over 300 top level youth soccer boys’ and girls’ teams will participate in the showcase. The teams will primarily come from the four National League Conferences in the East Region, but teams from other National League Conferences as well as teams from other high-quality competitive platforms, such as the Girls Academy and MLS Next, will also be invited.”

Progin Park, located in Lancaster, Mass., is the home base for the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association. Other facilities in the area also will be used to accommodate the large field of participating teams.

“The greatest common denominator among youth soccer players is going to college. Consequently, EDP Soccer is committed to helping youth players use their soccer experiences as a Pathway to College,” EDP soccer executive director of leagues Jen Marcella said in a statement. “The number of colleges and universities, including those with soccer programs, located in New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania is more than any other region in the country. The Progin Park venue is, therefore, a great access point for this showcase to bring together youth players to be viewed by college coaches.”
