It was another first for Gio Reyna Saturday.
The 17-year-old midfielder tallied his first Bundesliga goal in Borussia Dortmund’s 3-0 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach.
He became the second youngest U.S. men’s player to score a Bundesliga goal at the age of 17 years and 311 days. Former Dortmund midfielder Christian Pulisic, now with Chelsea, is still the youngest.
Reyna, who has been called into the U.S. national team, but hasn’t played yet due to the COVID-19 pandemic, worked his magic in the 35th minute. He ran onto a feed from English teenager Jude Bellingham before belting a shot across goalmouth from a difficult angle and past Gladbach goalkeeper Yan Sommer to give Dortmund a 1-0 advantage.

It was Reyna’s second goal in as many matches, after scoring in a DFB Pokal match Monday.
The son of former U.S. men’s national team captain and midfielder Claudio Reyna, Gio Reyna finished with a perfect 19-of-19 passing. He one key pass while winning two-of-five duels and drawing two fouls.
Reyna became the youngest American player to perform in the Bundesliga last season.
