Gus Xikis will be remembered by the Long Island Soccer Football League.

Xikis, league president for 11 years before he passed away in April, will have a LISFL cup named after him, his successor, Rocco Avallone said Thursday.

The board of directors have not decided which competition Xikis’ name will be associated with.

“We are contemplating, but it’s not an official yet in regard to renaming a cup after Gus,” Avallone said. “We’re trying to figure out what’s the most appropriate way to honor Gus. That’s definitely going to happen. We just don’t know what tournament or cup. We will name it after Gus.”

Avallone, a vice president with the Eastern New York State Soccer Association, added that that organization will name one of their cups or divisions after Xikis.

Xikis passed away in April at the age of 66.
