Since New York City FC will call Red Bull Arena its home venue for the forseeable future, the Major League Soccer team will try to turn the some stadium “blue” for its matches.

On Monday, NYCFC sent out a press release to the media on its plans.

NYCFC hosts Columbus Crew SC at RBA Monday at 7 p.m.

All the statements below are quoted from the press release.

City Member presence in the stadium (“Come On You Boys in Blue”) at all home games moving forward

To recognize its teams City Members who continue to showcase their support, NYCFC has built a banner that will be shown in stadium during home games with the rallying cry “Come On You Boys in Blue!” This is made up of names of its City Members, enabling them to still be present at the game despite being unable to be there physically. In the postseason, this will be cut up and members will be sent their name plate as a momento from this unconventional season.

Recognizing those we’ve lost as a result from the pandemic (“In-Memoriam”) for first home match

To honor those fans and supporters the club has lost so far through COVID-19 pandemic, the team will wear an in-memoriam patch on their jerseys for our first home game back (Aug. 24). In addition, messaging thanking the first responders who got us through this year so far, and also a message of honor to those we lost will also be featured in stadium and on broadcast.

Black Lives Matter messaging

Team Captain Alex Ring will continue wearing a Black Lives Matter tribute captain’s armband. The players also will continue to warm up in BLM tribute shirts pregame.
