Former New York City FC head coach Dome Torrent is back on the bench.

Torrent was announced Friday as the new boss of Flamengo in Brazil, succeeding Jorge Jesus.

Globo Sport reported that the 58-year-old Torrent has signed with Flamengo through Dec. 21.

He brought three other Spaniards to be on his staff, including technical assistant Jordi Guerrero, performance analyst Jordi Gris and a physical trainer.

Two other veteran coaches were in the running – Carlos Carvalhal and Fernando Hierro.

In a video that was released by Flamengo, Torrent said: – Hi, I’m Domènec. I am very happy to be part of this great nation. We will fight to win titles. See you soon. Thank you!”

Torrent, who directed NYCFC to the Eastern Conference regular-season title with an impressive 18-6-10 mark before the team was eliminated by Toronto FC in the MLS Cup conference semifinals, certainly has his work cut out for himself at a much larger club.

Flamengo has secured 36 Brazilian league championship and two Copa Libertadores crowns.

Torrent guided NYCFC to an overall 26-13-14 mark after succeeding Patrick Vieira halfway through the 2018 season.
