BOYDS, Md. – The Washington Spirit announced Thursday that assistant coach and associate general manager Tom Torres has departed the National Women’s Soccer League team to pursue other interests.

“We thank Tom for his contribution to the organization,” Spirit majority owner Steve Baldwin said in a statement. “As he embarks on his next chapter, we wish him the very best.”

“Steve, Larry [Best] and Richie [Burke, head coach] have created a special organization and I can’t thank them enough for including me in this process,” Torres said. “I look forward to watching the next chapter of this magnificent Spirit story.”

A search for Torres’s replacement will begin soon, the team said.
