Lansing United held court for much of the opening half, breaking broke through in the 15th minute. Stinson chased down a through ball on the right flank, cut into the box, and sent a weighted ball through the penalty area. Sabrina McNeill beat the goalkeeper and a defender to the ball first as she one-timed it for a 1-0 advantage.

United doubled its lead nine minutes later, as a quick throw-in caught Livonia City off guard and found the feet of Stinson in the box. She picked out a teammate in front of goal – Kaley Buck. Buck took a few small touches to her right and found an open far post for a 2-0 lead.

Livonia’s best chances came in the 57th minute. City forced a diving stop at the near post. The ensuing corner kick was nodded down in front of goal, but the second attempt was booted over the crossbar.

The Hoops kept up the pressure well into the second half, ringing two shots off the woodwork within a four-minute span. The first chance came in the 65th minute, as Alyvia Thorne doinked one off the post, and Stinson rang one soon after in the 69th minute after an impressive dribbling display through two defenders.

Kristi Bowden made good on her effort a minute later for Lansing, polishing off a cross from the left flank from McNeill for a 3-0 margin.

A fourth goal was nearly added in the 90th, but Maddalyn Freitas rattled yet another attempt off the crossbar.
