Will Maxi Moralez start and play a considerable number of minutes for New York City FC against Toronto FC on Sunday?
The NYCFC standout midfielder has been hampered by a quad injury during the MLS Is Back Tournament in Orlando, Fla.
During a Friday media press conference, head coach Ronny Deila was asked if Moralez was fit to start and whether City had any other injuries for Sunday’s 8:30 p.m. ET Round of 16 encounter at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports.
“Everybody is ready for the game now,” Deila replied.
That answer can be interpreted in several ways. Every player can play, but for how long? Deila did not say Moralez was ready to start, only that he is ready to play.
There was no follow-up to the question.
Moralez, who accrued a team-record 20 assists last year, replaced midfielder Alexandru Mitrita in the 79th minute in the 1-0 win over Inter Miami CF in the team’s final group stage game Monday.
