CHESTER, Pa. – At least one area soccer team won this week.
Five players scored as the Red Bulls II recorded their first victory of the season in a 5-1 win over the Philadelphia Union II at Subaru Park Wednesday night.
NYRB II, which climbed into third place in Group F behind Pittsburgh Riverhouds SC and Hartford Athletic, broke open a tied game by connecting three times during a six-minute span early in the second half.
Deri Corfe, Roy Boateng, Daniel Edelman, Sebastian Elney and Omar Sowe found the net for the visitors in the USL Championship match.
Corfe, a midfielder, opened up his 2020 account with his first professional goal in 10th minute off a pass from Jake Lacava.
A minute into the second half, the Union scored the equalizer from Selmir Miscic.
The visitors took control of the match in the 53rd minute. Boateng, a defender, scored in the 53rd minute, Daniel Edelman, a midfielder, in the 56th minute and and Elney, a forward, in the 59th. Edelman scored his first pro goal in his first start.
Toure picked up his first professional assist, finding Sowe in the 75th minute.
In the 83rd minute, defender Bo Cummins made his pro debut, coming on for Joesph Fala.
