Bledi Bardic is back.
The striker has signed a contract with the Cosmos for the National Independent Soccer Association fall season.
As per club policy, details of the contract were not revealed.
Bardic’s goal total has reached double-digits in each of the last two seasons. He finished the 2019 National Premier Soccer League regular season with 10 goals in 14 matches and was named to the NPSL National XL.
“I’m very excited to be back for my fourth year with the Cosmos, the team I love very much and can’t wait to be back on the field,” he said.
A Montenegrin native, Bardic is the second-longest tenured Cosmos, behind club captain Danny Szetela. He originally joined the team in April 2017.
“Obviously it has been a tough time for everyone in the past three months or so but things are looking better and we excited to get going soon with our preseason before the season starts in August,” Bardic said.
Added Cosmos head coach Carlos Mendes: “Bledi brings a great work ethic to the field every day and is always striving to help the team in any way possible. He’s a proven goal scorer as well.”
Five other roster signings have been granted approval by NISA and the U.S. Soccer Federation – goalkeepers Santiago Castano and Jesse Corke, defender Pedro Galvao, defender-midfielder Ansi Agolli and midfielder-forward Shavon John-Brown.
The Cosmos continue to prep for the NISA fall season. The plan includes a regionalized competition set to begin Aug. 8 and culminates in a tournament at a single location to determine the fall champion. All games will be played behind closed doors.
