HARRISON, N.J. – Sky Blue FC Tuesday announced its 2020 Challenge Cup schedule.

The team will open the tournament against OL Reign at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 30, at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah. CBS All Access will air the game in the United States and Canada with international viewing available on Twitch. The nine-team, 25-game tournament officially begins on Saturday, June 27, with the opening match and Final airing on CBS.

“It’s exciting to have something we can put on the calendar, circle the date, and look forward to,” Sky Blue FC midfielder Midge Purce said after the Challenge Cup draw. “We could have faced any team. We are just excited to play, and I think it’s going to be a great game.”

Sky Blue FC also will face the Houston Dash, the Orlando Pride, and the Chicago Red Stars in the preliminary rounds. The team meets the Houston Dash on July 5, the Orlando Pride on July 9, and ends the preliminary round facing the Chicago Red Stars on July 13. These games will air on CBS All Access in the U.S. and Canada and on Twitch for international audiences.

“I’m happy with the draw, I think we’ve got some good variety amongst the teams we’re facing,” head coach Freya Coombe said. “It’s going to be a great tournament that I think will come down to who can cope mentally and physically in addition to who can get their tactics right. I’m excited to go and be back playing games again. I’m feeling positive about our chances in the Challenge Cup.”

The preliminary rounds will determine seeding for the eight teams advancing to the quarterfinals, which becomes a knockout competition. The semifinals and final will be played at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah, with the championship match slated for July 26.
