EDP Soccer said Wednesday that it was hopeful that the tournaments set for the July 4 weekend will run as scheduled.
In a letter to member clubs and teams from executive director EDP League Jen Marcella and executive director EDP tournaments and facilities Don Rawson, the league said that is has been reviewing updates from from government officials, meeting daily with health and safety experts and regularly consulting local representatives from its partner facilities.
A final decision on the tournaments will be announced no later than Friday, June 19.
“EDP Soccer is making great strides to ensure we remain at the forefront of health and safety protocols and deliver a new standard of event quality across our industry-leading competitions,” Marcella and Rawson said.
EDP Soccer was forced to cancel its spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation as we diligently prepare to return to play when it is deemed safe to do so,” the two executive directors said.
