Pro Soccer USA announced Tuesday that it will suspend operations as of June 1 for the rest of the year with hopes of returning in 2021.

General manager Alicia DelGallo made the announcement on the organization’s website, saying that COVID-19 pandemic has forced “Pro Soccer USA to take a step back for the remainder of 2020.”

“We hope this isn’t goodbye, but a brief ‘See you later,’ until we can celebrate together in the New Year,” DelGallo wrote.

The brand will remain part of the Orlando Sentinel and Tribune Publishing family, she added.

DelGallo wrote that Pro Soccer USA “will remain committed to covering and championing soccer in North America to the best of its ability,” and that all content produced will be published on OrlandoSentinel.com/soccer.

Pro Soccer USA has covered Major League Soccer, the National Women’s Soccer League, the USL and U.S. national teams, among other parts of soccer since it was established two years ago.

Front Row Soccer editor Michael Lewis has covered 13 World Cups (eight men, five women), seven Olympics and 25 MLS Cups. He has written about New York City FC, New York Cosmos, the New York Red Bulls and both U.S. national teams for Newsday and has penned a soccer history column for the Guardian.com.
