On Mother’s Day weekend, Alex Morgan had an extra reason to celebrate becoming a mother for the first time.
On Saturday, the U.S. women’s national team striker gave birth to her first child.
And of course, on Monday, she will celebrate Mother’s Day, thanks to the birth of Charlie Elena Carrasco, who came into this world at 11:30 a.m. on May 7.
“At 1130 am on May 7 weighing 8lbs, 5oz, Charlie Elena Carrasco made her grand entrance into the world,” Morgan said on Twitter. “She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and her way only. My super moon baby.

Morgan, a member of two Women’s World Cup championship sides and an Olympic gold medalist, is married to the Los Angeles Galaxy’s Servando Carrasco.
Charlie was due in April.
Morgan was hoping to get in shape for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this year, but with the Summer Games being postponed until next year, she won’t have to rush.
