We all know that Megan Rapinoe is a VIP when it comes to soccer.
Now she wants to become a VP, at least a VP candidate.
On Thursday, the U.S. women’s national team standout not only endorsed presumptive Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden, but also offered to be his vice president during a 44-minute Instagram chat with Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden on Thursday.
“I don’t want to put you on the spot,” Rapinoe said. “I think I could still play soccer and do this. But if you need a vice president, I’m just saying I’m available for an interview. We can talk logistics and the details. Put it on your list.”
Rapinoe, the 2019 FIFA Best Women’s Player of the year who won the Golden Ball and Golden Boot for the world champions United States at the Women’s World Cup, had endorsed Sen. Elizabeth Warren for president before Biden pulled away from the field.
An LGBTQ activist, Rapinoe is a long-time critic of President Trump. She has criticized the president, calling him “misogynistic,” “small-minded,” and “racist.”
In fact, during last year’s WWC, she got into a feud with the president.
In a video released by Eight by Eight magazine last June, Rapinoe said that, “I’m not going to the f—ing White House. … We’re not going to be invited. I doubt it.”
She later added, “No. I’m not going to the White House. We’re not going to be invited. I doubt it.”
In a tweet storm the next day, Trump retaliated.
“Women’s soccer player, @mPinoe, just stated that she is ‘not going to the F…ing White House if we win’,” he said.
“I am a big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job! We haven’t yet invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose.
“Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!”
