Queensboro FC will announce that former Cosmos assistant coach Luis Gutierrez as its first technical director, The Athletic reported on Tuesday.

Gutierrez has worked for the Cosmos the past five years, including the last two as head coach Carlos Mendes’ first lieutenant.

His role was a strength and conditioning coach with pro playing experience in Spain at the second division level. Gutierrez received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Science and Master’s Degree in Sports Business while living in Madrid. He maintains UEFA’s A and B coaching licenses.

Before joining the Cosmos as a fitness coach, Gutierrez held the same position for Spanish clubs at the second and third division level in Spain. He also worked with the 2015 Cosmos B side that won the National Premier Soccer League Championship.

Guiterrez was a member of the Cosmos coaching staff that captured the 2015 and 2016 North American Soccer League championships.
