Former New England Revolution defender Marshall Leonard Monday — on National Doctors Day — began his first day as an attending physician in a New York area hospital emergency room yesterday amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the region.what a
Leonard played six seasons with the Revolution in Major League Soccer (2002-2007), helping the club to four MLS Cup appearances in that span (2002, 2005-2007).
He competed at the University of Virginia before being selected by New England in the fourth round of the 2002 MLS SuperDraft.
Following his time in professional soccer, Leonard studied at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y.
His father Tommy Leonard, Jr. is also an M.D. and medical school professor.
